Though the Mall of the Valley located at Centro, Tuguegarao is yet to be fully completed, it has already delivered benefits to the city most especially to its coffers. Most of the stalls in both the two phases of the mall have been filled up. The previous tenants of the old plaza occupy the most parts of the Phase 1 and the first floor of Phase 2. Phase 1 also has the Merrytime Zone and the Convention Hall under its roof while Phase 2 boasts off the mall's biggest and most popular tenants, namely: Savemore Supermarket, Ace Express, Watson's, Pandayan Bookstore, Savory Restaurant, RRJ Branch 3 and CD - R King. The aforesaid are located at the basement. The second and third floors of the Phase 2 is still under completion.
Buoyed by the success of the MoVA (some fondly calls it as MALLengke), the City Government would now venture into the construction of a new mall that would be similar to that of the aforementioned. The 2 story mall, which would be called Mall of the City, shall be located at the current site of the Don Domingo Public Market at Balzain East, Tuguegarao City. Construction will start this year.
While it is true that there are a lot of benefits that could be derived from this project like investment and job generation, additional funds for the government and better facilities for the consumers, the Local Government Unit should ensure that the previous tenants, which mostly consists of small vendors, of the soon - to - be - renovated Palengke would be given the priority in occupying spaces in the new mall. Rent rates should not be to burden some for them to handle. Their interests should be protected because most of them only has their trade as their source of livelihood.
